If anytime after the sale Marco should discover Giorgio within the city of Genoa or its immediate districts, then Giorgio is automatically freed and Marco is not obliged to return any portion of the sale price to Bartolomé.

  The slaveholder named Guglielmo de Terrucio sells an enslaved Russian child named Margarita, who is approximately 14 years of age, to a certain Dario Calvo, for 140 Genoese lire.
• Antonio Fazio, filza 3, series II, nr. 275

  The slaveholder named Vincenzo Lomellini sells an enslaved Russian woman named Caterina, who is approximately 18 years of age, to a man from Barcelona named Gabriel Diomel, for 150 Genoese lire. The contract states that should the enslaved Caterina be discovered in Genoa anytime after Gabriel has left the city, then she will revert to becoming the property of Vincenzo and that Vincenzo would not be obligated to return any part of the sale price to Gabriel.
