Kiliya was a Genoese commercial colony at the mouth of the Danube River. It was conquered by the Ottoman Empire in 1484. The Romanian historian Petre Diaconu argues that Kiliya was the same place as Licostomo, while others suggest that Kiliya and Licostomo were two distinct locales.
