The contract states that if the enslaved Maddalena gives birth during the term of the lease then Despina is prohibited from allowing her to nurse the child. If Despina decides to sublease the enslaved Maddalena then Mariola has the option to take her back by paying a prorated amount based on the service time completed. The risk that Maddalena might die during the term of the lease is assumed by Despina and Mariola is not obliged to refund the lease price should this happen.
