The region of Azerbiajan was under the rule of the Seljuk Dynasty in the fourteenth century. By the early fifteenth century it became a vassal state of Timurid Empire of Timur. In 1501 the Safavid dynasty of Iran gained control over the region.
Babilano Grimaldi was a slaveholder and citizen of Genoa who was active during the first half of the fifteenth century. Babilano was born named Babilano Cebà and and he, along with his brothers, were admitted into the Grimaldi albergo in 1448. He assumed the surname Grimaldi in many documents after this point.
Babilano Pallavicini was a fifteenth-century Genoese merchant. He was admitted into the Gentile albergo in 1460 and took that surname until 1487, when he left the albergo and reassumed the Pallavicini surname.
Babilano Vivaldi was a Genoese nobleman who was active during the late fourteenth century and early fifteenth century. The sources indicate that he died sometime in 1426.
