Piombino is a commune situated in the province of Livorno. It was under the dominion of the Appiano family during the late medieval and early modern period.
Tommaso Campofregoso was the 19th and 21st doge of the Republic of Genoa, ruling from 4 July 1415 to 23 November 1421 and from 3 April 1436 to 18 December 1442.
